Question about statute of limitations on debt. I owe back rent on an apartment complex I lived at in close to or more than 7 years ago. Now they're threatening legal action (specifically, threatening to garnish my wages). I'm wondering if it's legit or just a shakedown like that [infamous story](http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/tag/cdp-threats/) about CD Projekt sending threatening letters to suspected software pirates who they had no intention to (or probably even successfully) sue and demanding money, "or else." The apartment complex/people threatening me are in Maryland, I'm in Nevada. Who's statute of limitations applies to me? Whenever I google about statutes of limitations it's mostly concerned with credit card or loan debt so I'm not sure it's the same thing. But for what I can find, all I see is 3-6 years. I make very little money (I work at wal mart :( ). If they somehow *can* garnish my wages and then attempt to do so, what are the odds of a judge letting it happen or continuing to let it happen if it begins and I appeal? Garnishing my wages would basically mean I'd have to move to a ghetto in Reno and live on bread crumbs.
