Community Reports

An ad for the Charlotte Car Auction came across my Facebook page. I went to the website and everything looked normal and I registered to bid on a car. I had to send them an image of my DL front and back to register. I bid on a high end 2024 Red Land Rover and won without any problems and got the vehicle for half the value. They provided a Carfax report but the bottom part had a different font and looked like an image they added to indicate it was sold to them. I did think that this was almost too good to be true. I received an email with the wire transfer information and I was concerned and called the phone number. The person on the other end was surprised to get a call and when I asked what company he was from he hung up. When I called back he then said he was from Charlotte Auctions and the phone had very poor reception. I asked what happens if I cannot transfer the money within the 24 hours and he said they will extend the time for me to send the money. I asked, 'how do I know this is not a scam?' He said read the reviews and hung up. I did go to the reviews and it looked real at first glance and it was from Starauctiontalks.com but it only had information about this company and how great they were and it hit all the concerns ppl would have and also someone said they bought many cars and resold them but if you tried to use any of the links on this site they didn't work. Another red flag. Also the site only talked about this company and there were no other comments about other company's. There were no complaints found and I could not find any reviews about this company. All the information I did find had the same links back to this company's website. I started getting a very bad feeling and then found these other reviews on the BBB page of car auctions which sound very similar to my experience. These scams have become very real and have figured out all [BBB Scam Type: Phishing] [Business: Charlotte Auction] [Location: GA, USA - 30005]
