Another company is mimicking our website address and business name. They have registered nearly identical web addresses that direct customers to their webpage. Is this just dirty business or can I do something about it? I will use a fake business names and website addresses to keep anonymous, but hopefully I can paint the picture of what is happening. I work with an automotive company, and a competitor in the area has made websites that mimics our name and directs customers to their own website. Lets say my company is Super Engines of Albany INC. and that my website is "SuperEnginesAlbanyNY.com". Our competitor who we will say is Charlie's Engine Warehouse INC. has taken url addresses "SuperEngineAlbanyNY.com" and "SuperEngines.com". The websites are copies of Charlie's Engine own website. They have even taken it as far as promoting these web address with our name with ads on Google. I was told by a customer that when they called the number on competitor's website that mimics our site the worker said they were our company, but when the customer asked to speak the owner of our shop they hung up on the customer. Obviously our competitor is a dirt bag. People have said I should fight fire with fire, but I don't want to make a flaming campaign. I am wondering what I can do to stop this?
