[TX] What constitutes probable cause to tow my car? Background legal mumbo-jumbo; my individual story is below the fold. [Here](http://law.onecle.com/texas/transportation/chapter685.html) is the full, relevant legal text regarding the Texas Transportation Code. [In particular (emphasis mine)](http://law.onecle.com/texas/transportation/685.003.00.html): >§ 685.003. RIGHT OF OWNER OR OPERATOR OF VEHICLE TO HEARING. The owner or operator of a vehicle that has been removed and placed in a vehicle storage facility without the consent of the owner or operator of the vehicle is entitled to **a hearing on whether probable cause existed for the removal** and placement. [For the hearing](http://law.onecle.com/texas/transportation/685.007.00.html), the following evidence would be required: >(8) if the vehicle was removed from a parking facility: >(A) one or more photographs that show the location and text of any sign posted at the facility restricting parking of vehicles Best thing I could find that gives [a definition of such probable cause is from a city in Colorado (which is probably irrelevant for Texas, but just gives me a frame of reference)](http://www.swinkcolorado.com/ordinances/Title10VehiclesAndTraffic.pdf): >Probable cause to impound means such a state of facts as would lead a person of ordinary care and prudence to believe that there was sufficient breach of local, state or federal law to grant legal authority for the removal of the vehicle. --- My car was towed earlier tonight. Upon receiving the keys for this new place, I was not able to receiving a parking sticker from the sublessor; I was told from her that because it is the season for moving in/out that towing would not really be enforced (I realize this is just semi-irrelevant hearsay).
