I'm the POA for an elderly man with mental health issues that result in obsessive spending. I won't go into the huge backstory; the bottom line is that I'm on shaky ground to outright deny him access to his own money, but also have a duty to do my best to conserve his resources against future expenses. He does acknowledge he has a problem and has asked for a pre-paid debit card. Neither his bank nor mine issues these, so I'm shopping around. True Link offers a card marketed for elder protection that blocks predatory sites and allows me to set limits and notifications. It looks attractive, but I'd like to hear from others who have had to set up similar cards.
