An internet search led me to ushalloweendeals.com, the only website I could find that had a hard to find halloween costume. I went through the purchase process of inputting my name, address, phone #, email, and credit card information. Then I was presented with a screen asking me to input a verification code. I then received the code via both phone and email from my bank, so it seemed legit. I have to enter verification codes all the time to log into things, it didn't occur to me at the time that I've never had to do that to make an online purchase. Also, the message and email did not specify what the code was for. I entered the code, then the screen changed to say that my card was declined and presented the form to enter a new credit card. I've never seen that happen before, and then I immediately received an email from my bank saying that I had successfully linked my bank account to my Apple Pay wallet. I don't have an Apple Pay wallet, or anything Apple related at all for that matter. This website is scamming people into linking their credit card to a digital wallet that they can then use to access the funds in their bank. Once I realized what happened, I reported my card stolen and the account was shut down before the scammer could spend my money.
