I was attempting to renew my passport online and accessed the US Passport and Visa.org website after a Google search for "passport renewal." The website presented itself as an official site. I did not know I was paying to create forms rather than actually completing an online renewal. I went to the first website that came up, USA passport and visa.org, to renew my passport and entered all my personal information in it and then it charged me $111.28. Then I googled it and it said it was not legit site. All they gave me was a PDF form to fill out for my passport renewal. I googled passport renewal and the first service that popped up was passport and visa.org I did not notice that it was a sponsored service and not the dept of state I entered my information including passport number and bank card information and submitted it. I was charged 139 and today received notification that I was being charged and additional 149. I was surprised since that was not made clear. Subsequently I did what I should have done first and researched it. Unfortunately the bbb reports that it is a scam operation.
