How not to get scammed online - First off, do your research. If its a sketchy website your best friend is: https://www.whois.net/ You can see the contact information on a website, known emails of the owner etc. if its a @hotmail.com @gmail.com @yahoo.com email, chances are it is NOT legit. If its using a subdomain (e.g http://reddit.hawk.com/) then its probably fake Another way to verify if a website is legit is checking if it has SSL Certificates. Many large companies will use this. It looks like [this](http://i.imgur.com/XoXpeEz.png) - Dealing in online communities? Use Middle men! find a trusted member/staff member to deal escrow your transaction. Who.is - Listing your historic personal information for domains, charging to remove it. http://whois.net/whois/who.is This website lists expired domain information and refuses to remove it without paying an outrageous $30 "processing fee" per website. It will list previous owners of domains and allows Google to index every page. "Who.is is one of the most comprehensive sites for domain name information available today. There are many benefits to having archived whois information available online, however, we do respect our visitors privacy. If you are the owner of a domain and would like to have the archived information removed from public display there is a $29.95 processing fee for each domain name. Simply enter the domain you would like the archived information hidden for and complete the payment process. We'll remove the archived information within 24-48 hours." This website should be removed, information that belongs to you should not appear on a website without your permission or at the very least should allow removal of said information by request. Anyone know what actions can be taken against this website?
