Potential Identity Theft - are these the right next steps? So I sometimes drive for Lyft on the side. For the past day or so, my account was presumably hacked, and the individual deactivated it, which prevented me from doing rides. At first I was assuming it was because a passenger left me a bad review, but I received a call from an individual claiming to work with Lyft explaining the situation, and I explained my side and how that passenger was rude and unruly with me. The "agent" understood, and said my ban would be lifted, and the next day I was able to pick up people again until I got deactivated again. I spoke with this individual, and they were asking for an ATM card to deposit a bonus as inconvenience for my wasted time. That is when I knew that something was fishy, and I refused and hung up the phone. Because why do you need a card, when you have my debit card within the driver app? The problem is, to reactivate my account, I took front and back pictures of my license and uploaded where they requested me to do so. All web portals, emails coming from this individual looked legit, like from a ZenDesk-.com domain. Maybe they did some type of spoofing on their end to look legitimate, or this is an insider that is using his employee status to fraud people. Anyhow, is it the right approach to file a police report, even though I can not say for a fact whether or not this was ID theft? Like it's ok to file even if you justhave a suspicion, right? And I plan on filing fraud alerts with all three bureaus, as well as alerting the DMV about this. If there's anything else I'd need to know, I'd appreciate any help.
