They called wanting to collect a debt on a credit card tha has been paid off for more than 10 years ago and wanted to verify my birthday and social I gave them my birthday and they said it was someone with same name but wasn’t me and hung up so I called back and asked what birthday did they have on file but couldn’t give me that information then asked what my ss# was an I didn’t give them that so they hung up the phone again I’m thinking this violates the fair debt collection act and a civil suit should be filed against this company and I may actually do that personally [BBB Scam Type: Debt Collections] [Business: Client services] [Location: TN, USA- 38365]

William Ext. 517 Called from legal department stating I owed a balance from a credit card in 2013 Bank of America that I cannot recall. He had my social security number and said that I would be sent to court where I live now in CO if I didnt settle today. I told him I needed a something on letterhead and looked up the business Valor Legal Group not finding it. Letter was signed Henry Westly -Mediation Coordinator Client Services.
