Recieved multiple text messages daily with several variations of this same script. Also phone calls, which I screen and report as spam everytime. "This is Stephanie (or Daniel) with ATO. We are reaching out to you based on your inquiry for financial assistance after you visited our website. We can definitely help you with a plan to improve your financial situation. Is now a good time for a call?" On texts, I ask direct questions about who the company is and get the same responses. Probably a bot. They said theyd sign me up for financial assistance then i got spammed with links to sign up for loans and cheap car insurance and cheap internet. I signed up with togetherloans and was approved for $3,000 but needed a cosigner. I received an email regarding a financial aid application I do not recall submitting, because I currently have financial aid for my college. And in doing my due diligence to confirm the legitimacy, I found a website that seemed to support the email. However, upon further review, the addresses in the email and on the website did not match. I also checked my past emails using the main information that appeared in most of them. I found the same physical address across 6 different "financial aid" and "learning" websites. All of which are almost identical in the presentation of the websites' information. However, none of the sites or emails has a phone number. This is the email I received: "I'm following up on your financial assistance application. Our review team has completed their evaluation and you've been approved to move forward to the next phase. To continue, you'll need to complete a few remaining steps in your application portal. This includes verifying your contact information, choosing your payment preference between check or direct deposit, and reviewing and accepting the program terms. This process typically takes about 10 minutes to complete. It's important to note that this is grant funding with no repayment requirement. However, we do need you to finish these steps so we can process your application. Due to our waiting list, we can only hold applications for a limited time before needing to move forward with other applicants. Complete your application here You can complete these steps by logging into your application portal or replying to this email if you need assistance with any part of the process. If you have questions about your application status or need help completing any steps, please don't hesitate to reach out. father with dementia cannot afford nursing home care My family and I are at a loss as to how to handle this situation. My father has advanced dementia. He is currently in a nursing home that is giving us a deal for his care. He is being kicked out of this nursing home because he is violent, runs away, and they can't handle caring for him. I don't blame them at all. He is out of control. The problem is that while his dementia was taking hold of him, he lost absolutely all of his money. He has no assets. He is very young and secretive and we had no idea we needed to be monitoring this. He currently make $1,600 a month in social security and this amount completely disqualifies him from financial assistance. He lives in North Caroline and every nursing home we've looking into is minimum $4,000. My family has absolutely no way of paying for this. The current facility he is at wants my mom, his ex-wife, to come pick him up. He is violent and a danger to himself and others. I lives several states away and cannot come get him either. Does anyone have any advice on how to get financial assistance for someone in this dismal situation. We have been researching for months and are finding absolutely no support. I'm afraid he will end up on the streets.
Further Care & Financial Assistance for my Grandfather I've been taking care of my dementia and alzheimer's stricken grandfather for the past year or so. My mother and uncle were originally his guardians but have been suffering from health issues so I offered to help out for as long as I could while taking some classes online. That time getting close and I wanted to find some resources to help my family out during the transition. My grandfather has depleted most of his retirement funds helping out family members and his government check wouldn't allow for extended stay in an expensive senior care facility. Would anyone be able to recommend additional financial assistance programs or low cost senior care in the state of california?
Financial Assistance for Caregivers Are there any good, comprehensive resources on receiving financial assistance/compensation while serving as the full-time primary caretaker of an aging parent? Was hoping people who have gone through this might be able to set me on the shortest most efficient route.
Looking for advice My mom was recently diagnosed with brain cancer. She just had a biopsy to confirm the diagnosis (glioblastoma multiforme stage 4). She has opted to forego treatment and we've got a hospice admission appointment set up for Monday morning. Her partner and I are staying in the house with her. We know that she'll need to be moved to some kind of facility where she can get better care, but I'm not sure what to ask for in a facility. I have power of attorney. The biggest problem we've got right now is that about twice per day/night she gets out of bed to go to the bathroom, but she can't get up off the toilet on her own and she doesn't make any noise getting to the bathroom so we don't find out until she's starts crying out loud enough that we can hear her. Then she needs a lot of assistance getting up and moving back to bed (I am strong enough to do this, but her partner is not). Just a little while ago, she did this again and when I went to help her back to bed it seemed to me that she may not have been able to see (her eyesight in one eye seems to come and go) and she may not have understood that I was there and supporting her while moving her back to bed. Brain problems suck. She is fatigued all the time and other than getting up to go to the bathroom she doesn't want to do anything. Literally, she just lays in bed and declines music, tv, etc. until someone prompts her to eat, drink or take meds. Going to the bathroom is the only thing she seems to have an internal motivation for and once she goes, she's actually safe to leave alone for an hour or two. Right now, I'm thinking that I can get a bedpan and do whatever I need to to make sure I'm present when she wants to go to the bathroom (helping her move to and from while that's okay, using the bedpan if it's not). She sleeps alone in a queen size bed\*, so I can actually sleep in the bed with her to catch her night time trip to the toilet. My questions are: 1. Should I just go through with the
