Do lawyers even help university students with this? Location: California Are there lawyers for university student (non-active, graduated) to escalate an academic financial matter where the specific- degree obtained no longer is of value in the specialized field and the certification board of the specialized field is telling that person and the school has told that person they need to get a new degree? So when said person reaches out to the school they said the person can but has to pay for the new and old masters degree & the school will not offer financial any financial assistance as that has stopped this year when that specialized group's board made those changes??? TLDR: can a lawyer help me get out of my federal loans debt since my degree doesn't have value anymore?
Mother requires around the clock care \*BLUF - My mother requires around the clock care, but we don’t want to put her in a nursing home. Does MEDICAID have a program that will pay my spouse, or cover lost wages, to care for her? Short backstory, my mother has had COPD for the last 16 years, and is on oxygen 24-hours a day. She had a stroke back in 2017 and has lived with us since. Two weeks ago, she experienced a COPD Exacerbation, like she has had so many times in the past, and was in the hospital for 10 days. We were finally able to bring her home, but she is completely reliant on us for everything… from getting her changed over from her cannula to her bi-pap mask, to providing her medication. Simple tasks like going to the bathroom are now calculated events: 1)increase O2 concentrator to max “5lpm” 2)Change over from bi-pap to cannula 3)Help her out of bed and assist to bathroom 4)Help back to bedroom “less than 20’ from bed to toilet” 5)High-flow oxygen in nebulizer to breathe back up to appropriate O2 level “her pulse oximeter shows a drop into the upper 50’s to lower 60’s” 6)After nebulizer/medication treatment, and oxygen back to acceptable levels we assist her back into bed and transition back to her bi-pap mask. We’ve had to switch her to a medical bed, we now know almost everyone at the oxygen company on a first name basis, we handle all of her medication, doctors appointments, bills, and banking. My wife helps her shower/bathe, we do her cleaning and laundry, and have even recently added a wireless doorbell to act as a DIY - Nurse Call Button. Between the previous stroke and her worsening COPD, she is unable to perform even the most simple of tasks without assistance; my wife has had to pretty much stop working to care for my mother while I’m on shift at the Fire Department. Is there a program through MEDICAID that would provide financial assistance to cover lost wages or pay for my wife to assume in-home health care?
[US] Is this email a scam? (https://links.qualifylearner.com/u/click?_t=875f528c3fa34df3880bc2166a1766b2&_m=8cb37e0f541) So, I've been getting this email from June 10, 2025 to May 19, 2026 (typically 1-2 times a month). I live in Southern USA and I have just noticed this email today. I told my mom about it and she told me to click the link and apply (I have not.). The email itself follows the same format as the transcript below, but the people sending me the email changes and they're all women. At first it was a robot but then different women under the same work email sent this. I think this is a scam because all the emails say that I'm on a waiting list and they dont hold space forever, but clearly they do have space since they've sent this for almost a whole year. I dont recognize the website on the email as something i would apply to and the location listed on the email just sends me to a digital media company in Florida. Also reddit is telling me to post the website, so I put that in the title like it asked me to. **Transcript of email.** Application reminder status - Please review and confirm status, Consistent-Appeal-52, From: Program Coordinator Consistent-Appeal-52, Your application for financial assistance has been sitting in our system waiting for you to take action. Seeking legal advice on custody modification with ex spouse being military Location: Hummelstown PA, USA I am a 20-year-old mother in Hummelstown, PA, seeking guidance on handling a high-conflict co-parenting situation that has escalated into legal harassment. I share a 15-month-old son (B) with my ex-husband (EX), who is a service member. We currently have a shared custody arrangement, but EX has begun using state agencies and the threat of withholding our son to retaliate against me for setting personal and legal boundaries. The most recent conflict began just a week before Mother's Day when I formally barred EX’s girlfriend from my property following a childcare pickup where she came directly onto my porch setting my gaurd dogs off. I formally asked him twice over a week to ensure she is not present on my property during pickup (i don't care what she does off of my property). Well, Mother's day rolls arouns and she's on my porch again the day before for the holiday drop off. I let it be but messaged him again letting him know it wasn't okay. On Mother's Day, During pickup, I open the door (my mom behind me holding my son) to his girlfriend! I let him know she wasn't allowed on my property and had to leave, and closed the door. Once the door was closed I texted him and let him know I would change my son's diaper again to give him time to figure out his situation. Immediately after this, EX contacted local police after refusing to pick my son up unless she was allowed on my property (he was outside in the car and didn't want to leave her in the car as he felt it was 'dangerous'. Notably, he left her in the car once the trooper arrived with no issue). Upon leaving he or his girlfriend called CPS to conduct a "welfare check" claiming during pickup I was intoxicated and my son smelled of marijuana. Now, wouldn't the police officer have said something in his report if that was true? The report was clearly retaliatory, as the caseworker found the home to be perfectly
California workers’ comp question: delayed transfer of care, work-status gap, and possible benefit suspension TL;DR: I was injured at work in CA on 9/25/25, reported it right away, but workers’ comp care was delayed for months. I finally saw a WC doctor on 12/31/25, started treatment in January, then my WC doctor requested a transfer of care on 3/6/26. Insurance did not approve the transfer until last week, and I still do not have an appointment with the new doctor. I received a letter dated 4/29 but not received until 5/8 saying my temporary disability benefits may be suspended if there is no updated work-status note / if I am not seen by the new doctor by 5/12. I’m represented by an attorney, but I’m trying to understand what questions I should be asking. Location: SoCal California Hi everyone. I’m in California and I’m represented by a workers’ comp attorney. I’m not looking to replace my attorney’s advice, but I’m overwhelmed and trying to understand what is normal in this process and what questions I should be asking. I work for an ABA company as a Program Manager. My job normally involves driving to client homes, in-home supervision, parent training, documentation, and supporting behavior technicians. I was injured at work on 9/25/25 while leaving a client’s home. I stepped on a toy near the door, twisted my ankle, and fell onto my right side/back. I reported the injury the next day. I first went to my own doctor on 10/1/25 because I was in pain. I had back/hip pain, wrist/hand pain, knee pain, and later neck/shoulder symptoms. My doctor gave light duty/restrictions. There were delays getting the workers’ comp claim moving, and I did not hear from the WC insurance until mid-October. I kept trying to follow up because I had not been sent to a WC doctor. I finally saw a workers’ comp doctor on 12/31/25, more than three months after the injury. Treatment did not really start until January. I had imaging, an EMG/NCS, acupuncture, and PT. Some tests showed mi
I went on the website initially to inquire about financial assistance. I was sent an email that said “Congratulations” with a reference number after submitting personal information. I called the number on the website and spoke with a representative who asked for more information and confirmed on the phone that I was eligible for the financial benefits. They also connected me to a representative at South University by the name Erica Ferguson who was supposedly a financial advisor to get me enrolled in the school and told me tuition would be $92000 for the bachelors program. I declined and hung up. I then received a text message after the phone call from Helping Hands stating again I was approved for benefits, but I still haven’t received any confirmation for the initial benefits housing benefits I was inquiring about. Looking for advice to see if my mom can afford to retire. My mom works a very physically demanding hard labor job standing on her feet and using force with her hands a lot. She lives very frugally but it’s also a very low paying job. If she can manage to have 100k by 63, and her yearly expense is 25k, do you think she can afford to retire at 63? Asides from social security (which will probably be around 700 or 800 a month, which state and federal sources of financial assistance could she rely on? The state is Pennsylvania. Thank you!
I was robbed and assaulted at my University can I take legal action? I was robbed and assaulted by 4 men outside of my dormitory at my University. Prior to the incident, I filed a police report with campus police regarding death threats and harassment I was receiving from the individuals. I started receiving threatening calls, voice messages, and texts from a random person I did not know but they knew me, where I lived, what car I drove, my social media accounts, etc. Why I started receiving the calls and messages I am not sure I did not know the people who were harassing me nor have I had any conflicts with any students on campus. I was a 3.5 GPA student with a 4 year scholarship and on the Eboard for one of my orgs Minority Association of Pre Medical Students. 3 days after the report was taken I was robbed and assaulted outside of my dormitory on Campus. Since the attack Ive had to withdraw/mark my classes as incomplete, seek dental care(cracked tooth due to assault), seek counseling services, and seek financial assistance as I was an out of state student and my job, housing, food, my entire life depended on me staying at school. I am a certified STNA in the state of Ohio, but I had to return back to Michigan so currently I cant even get a job in my field due to licensing issues across states.. The only jobs readily available is a factory job paying $14 it woule cost around $450 to become certified in Michigan. Could I take legal action against the school? Only 1 out of 4 of the people involved in the incident have been arrested and the other 3 still attend the school. I’ve contacted lawyers and the Dayton bar association but have been met with several dead ends as its hard finding a lawyer who represents cases like this. Please help I’ve literally been set back so far in life because of this I am running out of options Location: Greene County Ohio
