I attempted to book a train ticket by phone and called +1 (855) 235-1124, believing it to be an official Amtrak customer service number. The person I spoke with represented themselves as an Amtrak agent and requested my payment information to complete the booking. I provided my card details. After the call, I was unable to locate this phone number on Amtrak’s official website and later learned that Amtrak’s legitimate customer service number is 1-800-USA-RAIL (1-800-872-7245). At this time, no charge has appeared on my account, but I believe this was an impersonation scam. I am reporting the incident to prevent fraud and to help protect other consumers.
