I was in contact with a seller using the phone number (840) 222-6000 regarding a horse for sale. They directed me to their website, https://creekhillshorseranch.com, which claims to be a horse sales and training ranch. The website states that a $500 refundable deposit is required just to schedule an appointment to view or try a horse. I questioned this because in the horse industry, deposits are typically only required after a horse has been viewed and a buyer decides to move forward with a purchase. When I requested a live FaceTime/video call to verify the horse and the property before sending any money or committing to a 7-hour drive, they refused and stated that I must first send the $500 deposit. After I expressed concern that this requirement was unsafe and resembled scam activity, they immediately blocked my phone number and ended communication.
