I received a phone call from an unknown number so I allowed the call to go to voicemail. The message that was left stated the message was urgent and intended for myself and they provided a file number. The message also stated they were contacting me to discuss a matter that has been forwarded to their office for consideration of legal action, including the filing of a lawsuit and or complaint with the court to discuss these pending actions that may be filed against me. They stated I would need to immediately contact the firm directly handling my file and provided a phone number 855-225-1384. The message continued stating this is a time sensitive matter and if they do not receive a response they may be forced to proceed without my participation. The message finished by stating their calls are logged and submitted a proof efforts have been made to notify me of the pending legal action against me in a timely manner. So I called the number that was provided, the person who answered said they were with a processing center and needed the file number I was given. They asked me if I was the contact person, I told them I was the contact person they were trying to reach and I gave them the file number, the agent said she would transfer me to the law firm upstairs who was the holder of this file. A man came to the phone stating they were attempting to reach me because there is an upcoming court date that I needed to be aware of. I asked him what law firm is he with and what is the matter of the lawsuit he had. He stated before he could give me that information I needed to confirm my date of birth and the last 4 digits of my SSN. I told him I would not be providing that information over the phone because I do not know who he is or what this call was regarding.
