I was contacted by someone claiming to be with DS Processing at 415-200-0097. Asking for my adult son. Told me to have him contact EWA Law Firm at 855-271-1691. When I called the number, they answered very informally and told me I was listed as an alternate contact number for my son (they did NOT call my son first, so clearly they have a phone number that is more than 15 years old). When I asked them to hold while I contacted my son, they hung up. I then researched them and ChatGPT said this was likely a scam. I called back and told James (who answered the phone every time, no receptionist) that research showed this number was reported as a scam, he told me it was because of "people like me that report" and said I could look them up as being a registered law firm at the state bar association (did not tell me which state), said goodbye and hung up. I called back the process serving number and got a computer generated voice mail that said to call the number that was provided to me, rather than this number. All very fishy. My wife and I each received the following voicemail from a number that was blocked and reported as suspicions: "This urgent message is for (my name): This is from DS Processing calling to follow up with a complaint received in our office with your case number **** there it's been a failed attempt to deliver documents to your verified residence. You will need to be available to receive the documentation and if we are unable to reach you at your home we will attempt to reach you at your verified place of employment. In order to stop further action from being taken you will need to reach out the issuing agency immediately at 855-271-1691. Again the number is 855-2 71-1691.
