They also state they are "paralegal assistants" and do not have license numbers, and cannot give the names of any of the supposed attorneys they work for. Received a call identified as potential spam from a caller using a number with my local area code - looking for my ex-husband (divorced 25+ yrs. ago and no other issues with mixed up identity, etc.) Claimed to be Laura Miller from National Process Service - regarding a non-compliance notice being filed against him. Exact verbiage used by another report I saw listed here. . . provided a reference number and advised to call legal department if he hadnt received this notice to request a certified copy. Received a call from "Adams Litigation" about a complaint filed against my stepson in the county he lives in. They said to call 866-811-0028. We live in Missouri and they called from 417-397-0343. Of course that phone number does not show up in any searches. There is an Adams Litigation website but no phone number is listed (red flag). When I asked where they were located I was told California but then they said they had locations in other states as well. I suspected a scam because they had called my number and not his phone. Also, he is well known at the county seat having been a deputy sheriff. They have his information. I searched for the 866 number and found it on the bbb.org website. I received a voice message stating that the call was for someone other than me (I recognized the name) and that it was regarding a legal case against them. They provided a case number (164-9285) and it was a noncompliance notice filed against him. Then it said if he did not receive the notice by mail, to call within two business days or with any further questions. the number they said to call was different than the number of the incoming call. That number is: 866-811-0028 I was taken aback and called the number to tell them they had the wrong number for whomever they were trying to reach. A man answered the phone and thanked me for the information and did not ask for any other information. He told me he would remove my number from the file and then ended the call.
