I receive calls almost every day from a recording that sounds potentially AI-generated with the exact same odd tonal inflections and no specific company information from "Ericka Smith" "on the underwriting team" regarding my loan file, I need to finish the final step before deadline (date not given), etc. I have not applied for a loan. The calls are from many unique numbers including area codes 914, 518, 302,716, and others. The call back number is 877-578-3842. Over the past few months, but especially past few weeks I have been receiving multiple calls from unknown numbers, which I don't answer. All the voicemails are the same even though they come from different phone numbers and different area codes. Always a female voice who says she is Erica Smith with the underwriting team. No company name and doesn't even address me by my name or say this message is for ___ just starts off by saying good afternoon or hello. That she is calling in regard to my loan file (I have not applied for any loans) and that after reviewing it again (how can she review it *again* if I never applied in the first place and we have never spoken), I am approved for $____. We're basically at the final step and she just needs a quick verification on my end to lock this in. Then a request to call her back at 877-578-3842. It is always this same phone number, no matter what the caller ID shows her call actually came from. I assume it is a scam to get personal info like SSN or banking info. They call every day at least a couple times a day from a different number every time. Same message and call back number left every time. No company name left ever. Google search of phone numbers comes back a scam. This is the message left every time. AND, I did not search or apply for any loans... As other people have mentioned, this scam comes from multiple phone numbers daily, as much as 8 times a day. The calls come with all different area codes - never the same number twice, but the message is always the same. The call back number is the 877-578-3842. The name left is Erica Smith recently but there have been other names - saying they're with the underwriting team for a loan approval. I have never picked up a call and obviously I'm not calling them back, so I'm not sure what their end game is here - probably wanting to get a social security number and other sensitive information.
