The scam consisted of a phone call and a voice message. The call itself lasted the briefest amount of time, barely long enough to ring once, before the caller disconnected, thus appearing as a missed call in the call logs. Even though I was using my phone at the time, I did not have enough time to register the number and choose whether to answer. The scam itself was stated in the voice message, the structure of which was: "Hello, my name is Rosalina Drake. It is April 20th, and I'm calling from the client account review desk of the Tax Mediation Abatement Relief Office. It appears that there are a few aspects of your account that have been flagged for review. We've created a direct line for you to deal with these issues. These issues may become more complex to handle if not addressed early this week. Please call (888) 618-7879. Again, that number was (888) 618-7879. If you were called in error, please call back and press '2' to be removed." I did not follow up with these people, since I searched the two numbers listed here in Whitepages, and neither is listed to anyone. This is about the fifth such call, with a similar hook, I have received this year.
