I was contacted first by text message and then a few days later by phone about a suspicious purchase of $1099 for an iPhone 17. I called the number provided (938) 282-8799. The person I talked to said his name was Jerry Fowler and he worked for Amazon and gave an employee ID# A44648. He sent a text with a security code. He asked if I had 4 debit cards: USBank, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and Chase. I told him I only had a USBank debit card. He said someone had opened a new Amazon account with my personal information (they had my name and address) and charged $1099 for an iPhone 17 and had it shipped to 49 Arcadia Ct. Albany, NY 122205. He asked for my birthday and the last 4 digits of my SSN. He then said he'd help me by contacting USBank and after a short wait I spoke to "Steve" who said he worked for USBank, He sent me a security code by email and wanted to verify my account balances with USBank. He was almost rude and didn't sound like a customer service person. When I became suspicious and mentioned this to him he said "You called me, I didn't call you". He said I must wait 30 days to cancel any questionable charge. When I got off the phone I went to a branch of USBank. They had no record of the transaction and cancelled by debit card. .css-1w6dufj{-webkit-box-flex:0;-webkit-flex-grow:0;-ms-flex-positive:0;flex-g [BBB Scam Type: Retail Business Business name Amazon Imposter] [Business: Amazon Imposter] [Location: CA, USA - 95133]
