Does the use of students' work by anti-plagiarism companies fall under Fair Use? It has come to my attention that some colleges/universities require students to turn their papers in to companies such as [TurnItIn](http://turnitin.com/en_us/home) which "ensure" that the paper is a the student's own work. However, if I write a paper, then I hold the copyright to that paper. At no point have I given TurnItIn (TII), or any other company, the right to use my paper in such a way that turns a profit for TII. Surely this does not fall under Fair Use. Should I then, as the author and copyright holder, send a DMCA request to TII to request (demand) they stop using my paper in this way? I apologize if there is a better subreddit to ask this in, but I thought here would be better than simply /r/askreddit .
