Reports from people targeted by scammers using Credit Sesame, Inc.'s name.
Using our own protection tools against us - ID thieves opening Credit Karma, Credit Sesame, etc. They're opening credit monitoring accounts in victims' names as a way to monitor their financial lives and look for new accounts to target. I tried to get Credit Sesame to explain why there are so many account review inquiries on my reports after they had closed the fraudulent account, and they had no answer. When checking your reports, check for companies like this showing up on account review inquiries, if you see these types of monitoring services get them shut down, if you can.
Someone applied for a loan in my name Ok so here’s a little story. I recently found out that someone changed the email for my credit sesame account, so I got that closed out. Then my new credit card got stolen somehow (I never got it) and they tried to spend it at a local Best Buy using the chip. I was confused since it wasn’t activated but the bank told me that it’s says to activate the card (wtf) Today I found out that I was denied for a loan that I didn’t even apply for... My next steps would be to contact the credit reporting companies to let them know about the fraud. Is there something else I can do to protect myself? I’ve never had this happen before. The only thing I did recently was apply for a new Bank of America credit card and that’s the same card that was stolen..
Credit monitoring alert, but TransUnion won't say what it is Signed up for "Credit Sesame," and I have a new alert this month that there's a "New Employer Alert," although I have been with the same employer for several years. Called TransUnion, and they were less than helpful. How do I find out if someone else is using my SSN etc. for employment, and what do I do about it?
