Avis Rentals is charging me for damages I did not cause Location: California About a year ago, I rented a car from Avis in Alaska. When I returned the vehicle, I was required to upload photos of the car from multiple angles through their website. I also recorded my own personal video of the vehicle at the time of return. A couple of months later, I received a letter claiming I was responsible for approximately $1,000 in damages due to a cracked windshield. In response, I sent them my video footage, which included timestamps showing the condition of the car when I returned it. The vehicle was returned around midnight, while the photos they later provided as evidence were taken in the morning on an unspecified date. Realistically, anything could have happened to the car during that gap in time. I went back and forth with Avis, attempting to obtain the photos I originally uploaded through their website, but before the matter was resolved, they transferred the alleged debt to a third-party collection agency. The collection agency has been unwilling to consider or review the evidence I provided. At this point, the debt has not appeared on my credit report, but they have threatened to send it to collections if I do not pay. I briefly spoke with a lawyer, and my understanding is that my options are limited because the burden effectively falls on me to dispute the claim. The options presented were to pay the amount, negotiate a reduced settlement, allow it to go to collections, or wait to see whether they decide to sue me. None of these options seem particularly reasonable or viable to me. Please advise.
On March 17th I was contacted via email, not phone or mail but email by Alliance Collection Agency for a medical bill with Atrium Health Wake Forest. I have never been contacted by email from a collections agency. On March 19th I took a screen shot and messaged billing through MyAtriumHealth to find out if it was legitimate or a scam. On April 9th they replied: Thank you for your e-mail inquiry. Atrium sends a total of 4 monthly invoices for patient payments for outstanding balances. Once the final notice has been issued, the balance must be paid in full or a formal monthly payment plan must be requested either on or before the due date indicated on the invoice to avoid collections. Once the account balance transitions to collections, it is no longer with Atrium and cannot be accessed via portal. Therefore, the system will indicate a zero balance. Please contact the collection agency,Alliance at 800-215-1547, to payoff the balance or request payment arrangements as the account is no longer with Atrium. The PDF attachment contains the itemized bill for your viewing. Should you have any further questions, please feel free to contact customer service at 704-512-7171. Thank you, Doris M. I never received notification online or by mail for this amount OR this date of service, (7/22/25). In addition, although it shows a zero balance online after 4 notices (A practice I think is predatory) All my past bills are listed there. The one that went to collections is not. In addition we were out of the country for the date of service in question. I have informed them I will not pay this bogus bill [BBB Scam Type: Fake Invoice/Supplier Bill] [Business: Atrium Health Wake Forest B
Fraud Victim. TELUS. Help / advice required. Do I need to seek help or more? Hello Everyone. I had recently found out that someone opened up a fraudulent account under my name with TELUS. I found out through the collection agency ARO. Series of events. \- ARO, calls me and tells me they are acting on behalf of TELUS to collect pending bills.(thousands $) They provide me with a account # \- I, shocked. Call TELUS and figure out wtfudge is going on. \- TELUS confirms, fraudulent activity has occurred with my personal details like drivers license, date of birth, name, and whatever information they required to open up an account. Account opened October 2024 \- few days, go by and TELUS deletes the account tells me I am not responsible for the payments and they will contact Equifax, trans union and the collections agency. I get an email to confirm everything in writing. 30-45 days to restore the damage. My questions are following. I researched and found out there was a data leak breach by Telus in 2024, but I was never informed of that that there were some instances of personal data being leaked to do some fraudulent activities. How do I confront? Telus about this? Should I contact the trans union and Equifax myself? If a person really has my ID they could’ve used it in other places or for other services. Should I be speaking to a lawyer about this? Anything else, if you can recommend or guide me. Many thanks
Ex-spouse won’t pay their half of a $6k rental debt per divorce decree. If I pay it all to save my credit, how do I get my money back? Location: Ohio ** ** My ex and I share a $6k debt from a rental home we lived in together. According to our divorce papers, this debt was supposed to be split 50/50. However, because we are both still technically liable to the collection agency/landlord, it’s hitting both of our credit scores. My ex claims they are "completely broke" and can’t afford more than $100/month. I was almost willing to accept that until I saw them constantly at bars and they told me this week , the day after their birthday that they are going to be busy all week celebrating their birthday. I’m tired of this hanging over my head and want to just pay the full $6,000 to clear the debt and protect my credit. My questions are: If I pay the full amount, what is the best way to get the $3,000 they owe back? Is this a "contempt of court" issue since it violates the divorce decree, or do I have to sue them in small claims court? Does their spending (vacations/bars) matter in court if they are claiming financial hardship? Should I even bother with an informal $100/month deal, or will that make it harder to legal enforce the full amount later?
CVS Specialty Location: Texas I have Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance, which requires me to use CVS Caremark / CVS Specialty for specialty prescriptions. Last year I was prescribed Dupixent. Dupixent provided a manufacturer copay card that covered up to $10,000 per year. I exhausted those funds in the spring of last year and was told I would have to pay the remaining costs out of pocket. I could not afford the medication at that point, so I stopped taking it and looked for an alternative treatment. Later in the year, I received a bill from CVS Specialty for a little over $500 related to my last shipment. When I called, I was told they had shipped the medication before verifying that the manufacturer copay funds were exhausted, and that I was responsible for the remaining balance. They told me I could make payments, but their system only allowed partial payments greater than $200 at a time. I started paying it down using HSA funds whenever enough money accumulated on my card. In the meantime, I switched to a different specialty medication, Fasenra, which is also covered through a manufacturer assistance program. About two months ago, CVS Specialty called me (they routinely call regarding side effects and treatment follow-up). I missed the call and called back the next morning. That is when I was informed that the Dupixent balance had been sent to collections and that CVS Specialty would no longer fill any prescriptions for me unless I paid the debt collector directly. My current balance with CVS Specialty shows as $0.00 because the debt is now with the collection agency. My question is: how is it legal for them to withhold access to a medically necessary prescription for an unrelated debt that has already been transferred to a third-party collector? Especially when the original balance appears to have resulted from them shipping medication before confirming payment coverage through the manufacturer assistance card.
I was contacted by a company named Litigation. The telephone number they called from was 7122208305. They told me i was going to be served paperwork through the court for a Community State bank out of Ankeny ia. That i owed them $4000. They had my information such as social security number and last 2 addresses. I asked them to send me paperwork on the supposed debt and for theor address and phone number so my lawyer could contact them. They began to get defensive and told me not to call them again or it would be harassment and they would be filing with the court in Buena Vista County IA. I had once had a checking account at Community State Bank in Ankeny IA. I proceeded to contact them and they had nothing on record of a debt. They informed me the collection agency they exclusively use is Kenam collections and gave me their number to see of they had anything on file. I then contacted Kenam collections and they informed me they had no file of me owing any debt. They then referred me to contact this office [BBB Scam Type: Other] [Business: Litigation Office Imposter Date Repo] [Location: IA, USA - 50510]
Eneco wrong readinings I have the s ome billing issues with eneco, they billed me on estimated readings rather than the readings I provided that are time stamped. I went ahead and lodged a complaint, never responded, I agreed to the paymentvplan, stopped when the letting agency told me to stop payments because they were persuing the matter on my behalf but eneco went ahead and escalated the matter to the collection agency. Is there a way I can reverse course, I have already written a letter to he collection agency challenging the debt. Location: Rotterdam.

Am I being scammed by bail bonds? CA Location: Riverside County California About 2 years ago my female friend was arrested for alleged Domestic Violence in California. I started a bail bond process to get her out of jail. Her boyfriend ended up taking over the bond and making payments. She got out within 24 hours. My friend went to court and it was dropped from being charged to just being detained. She did not even have to see a judge or anything. So they were told they did not owe anything for bail. Then comes today and I get a phone call from a collector saying she still owes on her Bond. I call the original Bond company and they say something is owed but wont give me details and says I have to refer to the collection agency. I call back up the collection agency. They say 3k is still owed even after 3k was already paid. I was under the impression that since her charges were dropped the bail would be returned. Am I not correct in this?
