Alcoholic mother - how to keep tabs on her? Hi, my mother is 77. She is a very difficult person and has recently become an alcoholic. She's been in hospital a few times over the past two months, due to alcohol use. She refuses to even admit she is drinking and won't accept any services (such as cleaning etc.) We're getting exhausted checking up on her. She's often drunk and won't let us in the house. The times she doesn't answer the door, we have to let ourselves in to check, not knowing if she'll be alive. It is really stressful! She usually goes out of the house every day or so to walk to the supermarket to buy alcohol. We just had a family meeting and we're trying to think of some way that we could just drive buy and notice if she's been out of the house or not. (That way, we don't have to intrude on her space, but we'll know if she's alive...win-win!!) We thought we could check her mail to see if it had been taken in, and we also thought we might be able to put a little security camera up on her verandah, just to see if she's walking out her front door. (She doesn't have wifi though.) Does anyone have any ideas of something we could do that would let us keep tabs on her from a bit of a distance?? I know the camera would be a breach of her privacy, but our mum is a nightmare and exhausting us all. We just want some simple solution that will mean we know if she's alive and walking without having to interact with her. Thanks!
