Flagstar Bank Cyber Incident ScamBanking impersonation fraud

Scammers using phone number 580-305-5218 contacted consumers claiming to represent Flagstar Bank, N.A. regarding urgent cyber security incidents. The fraudsters sent official-looking "cyber incident warning letters" to people who had never held accounts with Flagstar Bank, demanding immediate action to protect their non-existent accounts. Recipients discovered the scam when they realized they had no relationship with Flagstar Bank and verified the communications were fraudulent through the bank's official channels.

I responded to a part-time work from home position. They emailed me with information about the position and my responsibilities. They sent me a work from home package in the mail that had a check for $3,849.15 from Flagstar Bank in NY. I was to keep 800.00 for myself the rest to keep paintings in a safe place till picked up from Jan DiGiovanni with Charles Kello Gallery. I never cashed this check knowing I could be held responsible. Do not trust this kind of check or responsibility. Received a warning letter of Flagstar Bank's recent cyber incident under my name and address but I never have a bank account with Flagstar bank. Is it possible that someone open a bank account under my name?
