Autotrader Scam(s) Hi /r/scams This may be a long post but worth it if you use auto trader and wanting to buy a car. Recently I wanted to buy a truck, my first truck. Found a ford ranger for 2500$, 126km on it. Did not want to pass it up so I emailed the "seller" and he told me that the car is still for sale, but he moved to spain for "work" and he left the company with a shipping company >On 2011-11-28, at 8:55 AM, "Calvin Long" <calvin.long43@gmail.com> wrote: > Hi, > > The vehicle is still available for sale, price as stated in the ad $2500.It's in perfect working order, no wear and tear, no scratches, it wasn't involved in any accidents.I moved to Spain with my work but I left the vehicle at a shipping company in Thunder Bay, Ontario. All shipping costs and insurance during transportation are included in the price, I won a promotion(1 free shipping). You will also receive all necessary documents in order to finalize the purchase.Email me back if you're interested and have further questions. > > Thanks I was totally interested, so I e-mailed him back. We exchanged several emails and he said he would register the transaction with eBay VPP (Vehicle protection program). I didn't notice at the time but the eBay emails were in my junk inbox. eBay emails are usually verified by hotmail and shouldn't be sent to a junk email. Skipping ahead, He wanted the payment by Dec. 1st through a WesternUnion bank transfer. He claims a "Middle man" is going to take the money and when I get the truck, I have 5 days to look at it. If I like it, I keep it. >On 11-11-28 1:01 PM, Calvin Long wrote: > It's certified and etested. Look how this works: > > 1. I will contact eBay and give all the info about this deal. > 2. After you will inspect the vehicle and decide to keep it, they will transfer the money into my account.
