Community Reports
Appeared to be a legitimate mailing from my bank regarding a legitimately opened mortgage. Letter come in tear off envelope with loan details inside (county, closing date, loan amount and bank name). Included a mortgage ID which I do not believe is legit (at least it's not my account number, perhaps in the mortgage recording) stating: We have been trying to reach you regarding a matter of importance as it relates to your mortgage. Please call 1-833-396-1315. The front with the address is deceptive - but there is a clue - it says "RE: NNN FINANCIAL CREDIT UNION". The clue is the RE: prefix. It also included the "equal housing lender" logo (house with an = sign inside). This was subtle but perhaps the most misleading, as if they are selling insurance this is misrepresentation. Fine print (very fine...) on back includes the NPN #19588308, which suggests it is an insurance product, and that they are "not affiliated, provided by, or endorsed by any lending institution." @media (min-wid [BBB Scam Type: Credit Cards] [Business: The Mortgage Service Center Date Rep] [Location: PA, USA- 18902]
