I received a text message from 855-970-8980 claiming to be from “Apria.” The message said: “Hello, this is Apria! Call 833-641-6706 to set up a payment method for your $133.28 balance due.” The text instructed me to call 833-641-6706 to pay a balance I do not owe and to reply “STOP” to opt out. My phone flagged it as junk, and neither phone number is listed as an official Apria contact. The message format matches multiple BBB reports describing Apria impersonation scams. I am concerned because I have only been an Apria customer for less than two weeks, and this scam message accurately targeted me as a new patient. This leads me to believe that someone with access to Apria customer information may have shared or sold my data to a scammer, or that Apria may have experienced a data leak or internal breach. I have a screenshot of the text message and can provide it upon request. I am filing this report to warn others and to assist in any investigation. I received a text message from 855-970-8980 claiming to be Apria. Despite my account being current, the text message stated I owed $334.27 and that I needed to call 833-641-6706 to set up a payment method. I do purchase DME through Apria, but have never used the number I was texted from or the number I was instructed to call. Received Text from 1-855-970-8980 to contact April at 1-833-641-6706 for a payment of $251. They had my info, even last 4 digits of expired card. Did not update. Lady kept using "Sir" (Name) then a "God Bless at the end of the message". U.S. businesses do not train their employees to say this.
