How to get control of parked/link builder crap URL? Hi, Im starting a business called 'VENTURE' for namesake. Im trying to find out my options regarding getting hold of URL's for name protection etc. I own VENTURE.co.uk, but VENTURE.com was taken, a good few years before I acquired the .co.uk. As far as I can tell, (web archive and checking it every month for the past 6 months) it has been nothing but a link list park page like http://www.goooooooogle.com/ since 2007 I think where webarchive shows a 'closing down' page for what seems to be a personal site. I understand theres appeal channels through ICANN but im unsure/need reassurance as I believe because the offending URL was registered before my interest arose, and its not exactly been registered or is being hosted to purposefully sully my VENTURE's name. Ive emailed the WHOIS contact who offered an overpriced amount as usual. But if I do negotiate a price with the owner, what is a secure way to buy it from him? obviously not just transfer money and hope he transfers the domain. Is there methods through the registrar for him to sell it to me? TL;DR. URL I legitimately need is being link builder parked, how do I get ownership of it?
