A job was posted on multiple websites, but I applied via snagajob for a remote data entry specialist with Master Accounting and Tax Services. Everything seemed normal. I applied, and ten days later I got a text from the number 313-761-6974 from "James" asking me to contact "hr@talixogroup." I did, had an "interview" call, answered some questions, and they said I was hired. I filled out a W-4, sent my ID, and today they asked if they could send a check or I could use my card to pay for equipment. They asked to confirm how much I had available to charge, the bank, and for a screenshot of the credit dashboard to confirm how much balance I had. It was this point that I really became suspicious. I heavily cropped the screenshot but called Master Accounting and Tax Services directly to ask if they were hiring for any remote positions and was told that they were not hiring. I explained about a job posting on snagajob for a remote data entry specialist and was again told that they had not posted anything but had gotten many calls about the job. It was a scam; they had not posted and were not hiring.
