I am filing this complaint to report a fraudulent job recruitment website operating under the name “Appen USA Talent” using the domain appenusatalent.com and AppenUSA.com. The website presents itself as a legitimate recruitment platform associated with Appen, a real company. It uses a real commercial address listed as 12131 113th Ave NE, Kirkland, WA 98034, and a Washington phone number (+1 425-979-2123) to appear credible. The site includes onboarding documents, an offer letter system, and requests for sensitive personal information. I applied for what appeared to be a legitimate remote position. During the onboarding process, I was instructed to upload highly sensitive personal information, including: • My full Social Security number • A photo of my driver’s license (front and back) • A utility bill (proof of address) • My bank account and routing numbers • My signature The website later disclosed in fine print that it is “not affiliated with Appen,” which is misleading given the name and branding used throughout the site. The overall presentation strongly implies affiliation with the legitimate Appen company. After submitting my information, I discovered that the domain is not an official Appen domain and that this appears to be an identity theft operation designed to collect personal and financial information under the guise of employment. As a result, I have had to: • Contact my bank to close my account • Report identity theft • Freeze my credit • Take additional protective measures due to exposure of my Social Security number and government-issued identification This website is actively collecting highly sensitive personal information from job seekers under deceptive circumstances.
