My dad attempted to change his flight for Southwest to an earlier date. He did a search online for Southwest customer service. The search resulted in a Xtreme Fares: Book Your Next Trip, Your Reservation Desk number of 1-855-510-4098. He was told he would have to pay an upgrade fee of $356.96 which he paid on his credit card. The individual on the phone provided a flight number and seat number and said he would update the existing confirmation number. When my dad went to check in on Southwest Airlines, the new flight and seat # did not exist under his confirmation number. When he called back the same number to speak to someone about why the reservation wasn't changed, he was told they would refund the $356.96 but they would have to purchase a business class upgrade of $4000 and then would be refunded the $4000 after getting charged. When we pressed the agent further on this process, he became agitated and insisted we would have to do an upgrade or the flight would not be changed. When we said no way, he said the fee would be around $1000. At that point we were suspicious. Incidentally, my dad also had 4 fraud charges placed on his credit card after he "changed" the reservation with this company. We then proceeded to call Southwest Airlines via their website and there was no changed flight as we suspected. I missed my flight at YVR and I called the YVR number of 604-207-7077. They transferred me to Air Canada's customer service phone number and I got transferred to another number, 855-510-4098. This number claimed to be the "consolidation desk" This number IS A SCAM!! I spoke to some weirdo named "Jim Miller," and he promised to rebook my flight for the following day, for an upcharge of $400, I gave me my credit card because I originally called the trusted YVR phone number. The next day rolls around and I have no flight so I called back and someone named Oliver said he could do the same thing and charge me $600 for the next day. I was very hesistant and the more I was the more agitated and like jumpy he was getting. Saying he would not give me any flight information until I let him charge my credit card. I got sketched out so I called YVR customer service to verify this "consolidation desk" and the names of the people and he said there is no such thing and the number when he looked it up came up with a scam.
